Birthday Doggs

Yeah so it's Thursday night and still no Illustration Friday, I give up. Hate the topic. Maybe this week :P That said I am doing a couple birthday cards for my siblings. I HATE doing birthday cards, I don't know why...maybe it's the pressure to be creative and skilled and perform and blah. I'm not a very good artist on demand. I tried to do a doggie for my sister's card, it was sketched, scanned and painted in Painter and Photoshop. I rarely, rarely draw dogs, mostly because I don't have one I guess. I think it turned out alright..I was kind of strapped for time because I procrastinated because I hate doing birthday cards. I went all painterly with the balloons, dunno if it works or not. Forgive the mush in the card, I really do love my wee siblings mostly because I rarely see them. I'm still thinking of something for my brother's card, his birthday is in a couple of days. Maybe a guinea pig?

Work Sketches 10/22/06

Still no Illustration Friday, I'm trying to think of something that isn't just a lame version of a cutie pie casper. I was going to do something political but then again I'm not in the mood and I feel like I really have to know my stuff before I start to do political.

These sketches are from work. I've taken to drawing interesting customers from memory during my breaks. Usually interesting looking characters, the round woman on the left was my first subject. I was talking to her and studying her unintentionally and just had to draw her. The cult guy was creepy, ice blue eyes and dark complextion and carried around cult like magazines. The woman below him was so obnoxious and kept trying to give her bad advice to another woman looking for my help. The lady to her left just had funny eye lids but they didn't end up being the subject of the drawing. They are in similar positions because either the customer is right in my face or to my right.

This makes the work day a little more interesting so I think I'm going to try and make it a habit.

Family Portrait

Forgot a doodle! I did this when I was working at a telemarketing centre in Sydney, Australia. It's my little non-family. Me, my boyfriend Trev, Pixel and Walter our cats. I totally copied the style from my interweb friend Kathleen whose site is down so I can't link it, but when it's back up I'll link it. It was neat to try something new.

Some Sketches

No Illustration Friday yet because I think I'm going to spend more than 5 minutes on it. Instead I'm posted a couple sketches I've been doing over this week. Some kitty experiementation and a couple doodles I did last night while chatting. I love the cat on the right, so creepy! I was trying to experiment with humanizing the cats and I went too far and it looks hillarious so naturally I added a toupé and a joint. Really it was the only thing to do. The crying lady amuses me, I just really wanted to draw a strong emotion so obviously I picked anguish or sadness or whatever you want to call it. The doll has a really awkward unreal pose but she was fun never the less. I like my streched out kitty, my cat does that all the time, it's so weird.

Anyway that's it for me, need to think of something Ghostly for IF.

J'ai finis

This is kind of silly little project I started on awhile back, it has very little to do with anything and I'm pretty sure my french grammer is atrocious. I don't think I've posted it anywhere else, but if so I apologize. I think the style is inspired loosely by the illustrations for "Le Petit Prince" and my desire to play with all the cool tools in Painter.

In an unrelated note, the layout mechanics of blogger are driving me insane. But as with anything I'm sure that can be rectified with a simple trip to Google.
